Some recent thoughts ~
What would it be like to start out with a few months just traveling on AmTrak? My ultimate idea is to get a Jeep and an Airstream Bambi for the journey, but this may be a fun, viable twist as we look at various transportation options.
I took my first train trip last summer from Denver to Grand Junction ~ it took something like 12 hours (normally a 4 hour car ride). I learned a lot about patience and living in the moment :) I just loved the viewing car and that you could get a glass of wine, some nasty coffee, and meet other travelers.

ReplyDeleteI envy you and JJ going on such a wonderful trip. You will be there in time for the pear harvest as the peach harvest is earlier. Just think of all you will and do and the people you will meet. I wanna go!
ReplyDeleteI moved to Arizona from Michigan, in 1966, on the train, of course being only 3 years old at the time I really don't remember much. But I still have a soft spot in my heart for train travel.
